Players Etiquette

WNOPCLUB strives to create a playing environment that is fun, social and competitive. Good etiquette will support this goal. Review the following guidelines to ensure a positive experience for everyone on and off the court. 

During Play:

1. The Server calls the score clearly before each serve.
2. Respect the line calls – when in doubt, the ball is in.
3. Make honest calls on your side of the court.
4. Avoid arguing with opponent’s calls.
5. If one of the partners calls it in, the ball is in.
6. Avoid coaching unless it is asked for.
7. Avoid comments that are made to ‘get into your opponent’s head’. Whether intended or not, it can throw someone off their game.

Safety and Courtesy:

1. Call “ball on court” if ball rolls on your court or adjacent court. Stop play and replay the point.
2. Avoid crossing active courts – wait until play stops.
3. Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times. The court is not the place for arguments, shouting matches or poor sportsmanship.
